CAPA Conference 2022

The 2022 CAPA Annual Conference/training session is fast approaching and will, again this year, be held at the Shaw Centre (55 Colonel By Drive) on Monday, November 28, 2022

The agenda this year is diverse and topical. Our speakers include, Keynote Speaker Caroline Maynard, Information Commissioner of Canada, Keynote Speaker, Philippe Dufresne Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Patricia Kosseim, Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, Professor Valerie Steeves, University of Ottawa, Mary Marshall, Health Law Privacy Lawyer, Meadows Law, John Weigelt, National Technology Officer, Microsoft Canada and our annual panel discussion of the important court decisions from the past year on access and privacy issues in Canada. Additional sessions may be added.

We think that this is a conference you won’t want to miss. Similar private-sector conferences and training sessions cost at least $600.00, often more. Since 2012, we held the cost of our annual session to under three hundred dollars. This year, the cost is $325, which includes opening refreshments, refreshments at breaks, lunch and the wine and cheese reception at the close of the day. The increase is due to the fact that the cost to us of the space rental, refreshments, interpretation and audio-visual equipment post-pandemic has gone up considerably.

Please note that the CAPA office will be closed from the 27th of September through the 7th of October. All registrations sent by regular mail or e-mail during that period will be confirmed the following week.

The conference agenda with speaker/panel times will be posted on the CAPA website (www.capa.ca) as soon as it is finalized. All conference registration materials can also be found on the website in printable or fillable pdf.

Cancelations of conference registrations will be accepted up to and including November 18, 2022. After that, there will be no refunds. Cancellations must be made in writing by either regular mail or by e-mail to info@capa.ca. Substitution is always accepted. Again, this year, there will be no invoicing for the registration fee. Payment must be made at the time of registration. Registrations will not be processed without either credit card information or a cheque.

Registrations will be confirmed by e-mail. Registrations that do not include an e-mail address will not be confirmed. If you do not receive a confirmation, you should contact the CAPA office at 613-833-0585 as you may not be registered.
